Flip Book
The book I chose to base my flip book on was The Little Mermaid written by Hans Christian Andersen. The story is about a little mermaid who trades in her voice for human legs and an immortal soul so she can meet and fall in love with a human Prince. The only drawback is that if he falls in love with someone else, she dies and becomes sea foam. She meets the Prince and is hoping to marry him, but he meets and falls in love with another girl. They marry and the little mermaid is faced with killing the Prince to regain her tail and to become a mermaid again or to die and become sea foam. She chooses to kill herself, but as she is lying in the sea the daughters of the air come down to take her with them because she preformed a good deed of taking her own life instead of the Prince's. This way the little mermaid is able to get an immortal soul after being with the daughters of the air for 300 years. I wasn't able to add in every plot element from the story, so instead I chose to do a brief summary of the key points. In my opinion the key points were transforming into a human, meeting the Prince, him falling in love with another women, and the mermaid killing herself and joining the daughters of the air. Everyone is familiar with the Disney version of The Little Mermaid, so I made the mermaid's hair red to mimic Ariels' while still following the plot of the original story.
