Pjotr Sapegin's ARIA

The way that opera music was incorporated into the animation was interesting because it wasn't through the puppets singing, but rather played through an older speaker. The two main characters, Butterfly and the sailor, were made of different things which helped to show a contrast between them. The storyline became more disturbing when the sailor came back to the island for the second time because he stole Butterfly's child and then she tried to tear herself apart. The scene however when she tried tearing herself apart, shows the impact that a loss, especially the loss of a child, has on someone.
